STEP 1
Site Prep & Mixing
Clear the area of debris, dirt, or old asphalt. Ensure the base is stable and well-compacted. Proper preparation of the site ensures a smooth and durable asphalt surface. Prepare the hot mix asphalt according to the project specifications. Ensure the asphalt is at the correct temperature for application.
STEP 2
Laying the Base Layer
Spread the first layer of hot asphalt evenly across the prepared surface. Use a compactor to create a firm base. This base layer serves as the foundation for the top coat, so it must be compacted thoroughly to prevent any future settlement or instability.
STEP 3
Applying Glow Stones on Top Coat
Once the base layer is compacted, lay the top coat of hot asphalt using an asphalt finisher to ensure a smooth surface. While the top coat is still hot, evenly distribute AGT™ Glow Stones onto the surface. Ensure they are pressed into the asphalt firmly. This step must be done immediately after the finisher has passed, and before any further compaction.
STEP 4
Final Compaction & Cooling
Use a second compactor to press the glow stones into the hot asphalt, ensuring they are firmly embedded for maximum adhesion and durability. Allow the asphalt to cool and harden, restricting access to the newly laid surface until it is completely set. The cooling period is essential to ensure that the glow stones and asphalt bond properly, preventing any displacement or damage.
